Nose [Rhinoplasty]

Rhinoplasty was one of the first cosmetic procedures ever developed and is among the most frequently performed today. Appearance can be improved for people who are unsatisfied with the shape and size of their nose.

Rhinoplasty corrects nasal deformities by removing, rearranging or reshaping bone or cartilage. This surgery is performed for a variety of reasons including reducing the size of the nose, removing bumps and improving the angle of the nose. Rhinoplasty can also help patients who have difficulty breathing and can be performed on all age groups.

Following surgery, a splint is applied to the nose and should be worn for 5 to 7 days. It is normal to have black eyes after surgery. You will begin to notice the final shape of your nose in 3-4 months but final results can take up to a year. Discomfort is controlled with prescribed medication. Complications are uncommon. Smokers are required to stop smoking (including nicotine patches and gum) at least 4 weeks prior to and after the surgery. Smoking causes delayed healing.
