What Is It Like to Get QWO Cellulite Treatment?

Sexy buttocks of woman in bikini on sea background One of the most exciting things about the field of plastic surgery is that we get a front-row seat to observe and evaluate the latest treatment modalities. QWO represents a significant advancement in the treatment of cellulite. This common condition has very little to do with weight and a lot to do with the way the skin lies over connective tissue and subcutaneous fat. Years ago, we learned that even liposuction and weight loss don’t guarantee the elimination of cellulite. With QWO, we realize that what can guarantee this is the release of the fibrous bands that hold the skin to the underlying muscle. If you’ve heard of QWO injectable treatment, you may be ready to jump right into making an appointment. We don’t blame you! Here, we’ll discuss what you can expect when you do attend your cellulite treatment appointment.

Before Getting QWO Injections

Due to the way in which QWO works, there is a risk of excessive bruising. To minimize the amount of bruising you experience, you should avoid taking medications and supplements that thin the blood. Examples include aspirin and fish oil. You may begin taking arnica about a week prior to your appointment to further minimize the bruising side effect. Finally, in the weeks leading up to your appointment, you can start noting the areas of your buttocks that are most bothersome in terms of rippling and dents. This will help the doctor identify and mark the areas appropriately.

Procedure Day

On the day of your QWO treatment, shower and cleanse the area with soap but do not apply any product to the skin that we will treat. After you are all checked in and settled in your private treatment room, the doctor will mark the dimples that you would like to have treated. Before photos will be taken, and you will lie on your stomach to receive the injections. It usually takes only 15 to 20 minutes to complete this cellulite treatment. During the appointment, the doctor makes injections just around each dimple that has been marked. The process is quick and virtually painless, so you do not need a numbing agent applied beforehand.

After your injections, you can drive and resume most normal activities. However, you may be advised to avoid strenuous exercise and physical work for 24 hours. This allows the product to work as efficiently as possible. Within a few days after getting QWO injections, expect significant bruising to appear. The bruising looks much worse than it feels. It is believed that the amount of bruising that occurs after this initial session is because of the effect that the enzyme in QWO, the one that breaks down the collagen that forms fibrous bands against the skin, has on blood vessels in the treatment area. In addition to bruising, you may feel tender, itchy, tingly, or numb in the area of focus. Until your side effects have resolved, it is wise to avoid sun exposure.

QWO treatment takes place over three separate sessions. After your treatment, we will schedule you to come back in three weeks for your second appointment. Your third and final appointment may also be scheduled at that time. That session occurs six weeks after your first. During subsequent visits, you may have the same dimples treated or others, if the original dimples have resolved to a satisfactory level.

Cellulite is no longer the dreaded skin condition that women try to avoid at all costs. We now know how to manage it with very conservative therapies. For more information regarding QWO cellulite treatment, contact our office in Templeton, CA at 805-434-2828.
